If you are just visiting our site and not transacting with
us online, you can browse our site anonymously. We will not ask
for personal information during your visit unless we need information
to complete a transaction that you request or begin.
We do study site utilization patterns including visitor navigation
patterns to assist us in improving the site. This information is
collected in aggregate for all our site visitors and is anonymous.
Charter Bank feels that it is extremely important to guard the identity
and privacy of children, and we encourage parents to supervise their
interactions online. We do not intentionally market to or solicit
personal information from children under the age of 13. In the event
that we receive personal information from a child whom we know to
be under 13, we will only use that information to respond directly
to that child or seek parental consent.
With proper safety measures in place your Internet Banking transactions
remain confidential and safe. The following measures have been taken
to ensure your privacy.
In order to access Charter Bank's Internet Banking, you must enter
a unique User ID and PIN.
Charter Bank allows you to choose a "pseudo name" for
each of your accounts. For example, Sharon’s Checking, Vacation
Savings, etc.
If you are logged on to Internet Banking but do not use it for 10
minutes, you will not be able to proceed until you "re-log"
onto the system.
To keep unauthorized individuals from accessing your account by
guessing your PIN, we have instituted a PIN lockout system. If your
PIN is entered incorrectly three consecutive times, the user is
"locked out" of the system. You must contact the bank
for your account to be reset and the system to become "unlocked".
If your Internet Banking account has been inactive for 90 days or
more you will need to contact Charter Bank to reactivate it.
We strongly suggest using the latest version available for your
particular browser software, which is compatible with your operating
system. Generally the latest versions provide the greatest overall
secure protection.
Charter Bank requires the use of secure browsers to protect you
while you access our online banking services. More specifically,
the personal and account information that flows back and forth between
your computer and Charter Bank must be encrypted while in transit
– secure browsers are how we achieve this level of protection.
Encryption is the process of scrambling information (typically for
data transmission) so that it can only be reassembled in its original
clear text format by someone who has the correct encryption key
to do so.
It is isolated from the network via a "firewall". All
requests to the server are filtered through a router and firewall
before they are permitted access to the server. A router is a piece
of hardware that works in conjunction with the firewall, a piece
of software, to block and direct traffic coming to the server. The
router and software "firewall" define and limit access
that "outside" computers have to a server. The configuration
begins by disallowing ALL traffic and then opens only when necessary
to process acceptable data requests, such as sending customer requests.
